Tuesday

Bop Nation with Mike Ess, Skip Gailes, Wade Short, and Kip Williams continues at a new jazz/nu-jazz club on the Southside called Milestone Restaurant & Jazz Lounge. (event)

Guitarists John Conley & Adam Larrabee duel it out (or just make beautiful music in collaboration with one another) at Davis & Main. (event)

Brian Jones returns to The Camel for his monthly gig, and this time it’s two sets with the drummer’s new quintet of Randall Pharr (bass), Wells Hanley (piano), Marcus Tenney (trumpet), and J.C. Kuhl (saxophones). (event)

The down-tempo bolero experiences a makeover with the combination of all of Miramar’s worldly elements. Balliceaux’s the spot. (event)

Wednesday

Saxophonist Roger Carroll and guitarist Alan Parker do it up for their second week at The Belvidere at Broad. (event)

VCU Jazz @ The Camel comes back for its January edition with student-led ensembles Connor Thompson Quartet and, well, Dean Christesen Trio. (event)

Fresh off a gig at NYC avant-garde mecca The Stone on Tuesday night with Glows in the Dark, Fight the Big Bull comes home to play for familiar faces at Balliceaux. (event)

The U.S. Army Blues Jazz Ensemble makes a stately and likely very swinging appearance at VCU’s Singleton Center for the Performing Arts. (event)

The Compass Rose Orchestra, Marcus Tenney Quintet, and Yellowgrass come together to play one big, late, modern jazz party. (event)
