About Verbatim
Verbatim is trombonist Bryan Hooten (of Fight the Big Bull, Ombak, No BS! Brass) and drummer Dean Christesen (of Verbatim).
Verbatim is a distress beacon from a distant galactic civilization. The trombone laments the battle between a peaceful people and the invading marauders while the drums hammer out the encoded coordinates of the home planet. This is a story forged in the stars and told in sound.
Verbatim’s self-titled debut album was recorded on June 26, 2009, in the sweltering attic of Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, VA. The eight tracks are the first takes with no overdubs or splices and were mixed in one pass. Call it rushed, call it hasty, call it reckless. Verbatim calls it real. The record brilliantly captures the duo’s live performance energy, mutual awareness, and sense of humor.
