For those who will not be able to attend the VCU Fall Jazz Festival tomorrow night, the concert, as well as the entire week-long Brass-Fest ’09, will stream online at The Music Page. VCU Music began their partnership with the Australian website impressively and glitch-free last year for the 2008 Fall Jazz Festival with guest trumpeter Allen Vizzuti, allowing people worldwide to tune into the concert. This year, guest trombonist Matt Niess will perform with VCU Jazz Orchestra II, Jazz Orchestra I, and Faculty Jazz Septet. Niess will also give an Improv Clinic from 3:30pm-4:30 and a Lead/Section Brass-Playing Clinic from 5:30-6:30. Both are free and open to the public but will not be viewable on the web stream.

A live audience is obviously preferable to people staying home and watching on their computers, so it’s VCU Music’s hope that people will recognize the excitement of being there and attend in person if at all possible. But for those outside of Richmond, it’s a great way to check the concert out.
