This Saturday January 22, The Byrd Theatre will host the premier performance of The Sailor Bob Story – A Documentary Tribute. Sailor Bob (Griggs) hosted the Popeye cartoon hour on public television in the 60’s and 70’s. This one time event is focused on this incredible man, his amazing kids program and his contributions to the Richmond community.

The soundtrack has an all-star lineup. Daniel Clarke, John Winn, Randall Pharr, Stefan Demetriadis, Chris Fuller, Charles Arthur and Forrest Young all performed on the original soundtrack by guitarist Frank Coleman.  The event is this Saturday from 2pm to 3:30 pm at the Byrd Theatre. The tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The story sounds fascinating and the music is sure to be too.
