And what a beautiful weekend it will be! As I pointed out to someone on Twitter this morning, it’s still that frustrating time of year where you need a coat and gloves first thing in the morning, and then can forget about them for the rest of the day. But there are good things looming on the horizon.

This, Richmond, is your reward for the cold air and the ice and the snow. Well, this week’s snow, at least. I’m sure Mother Nature will compensate for the rest in due time. In the meantime, we get beautiful weather and almost-warm temperatures!

Friday
The low that brought the rain and snow (oops, I said it again!) to us Tuesday and Wednesday is still situated off the coast of Labrador, which is funneling cool dry air out of the northwest. It’s also still kicking down some lingering clouds, which should slowly clear out of the area as the day progresses. Unfortunately, they’re going to keep us around the 50-degree mark for today. Another clear night on tap for tonight, which means lots of radiational cooling and temperatures hovering around 30.

Saturday
Here’s where the good stuff starts. High pressure moves in and clears out the last of the clouds. It’s going to be a GORGEOUS day – get outside and do something! Sacrifice a snow man! Buy Girl Scout Cookies! Need ideas? Here’s 5 more! Temperatures begin their climb upward, peaking in the mid-50s. Clear skies mean another cool night, with temperatures dropping back into the low 30s.

Sunday
Second verse, same as the first, only warmer. Clear, beautiful skies, and highs near 60. 60! Can you believe it? The last time it was warmer than 60 degrees was January 15 – and it only made it to 60 once in February. Same story for Sunday night, with lows rising just a bit, but still in the low to mid 30s.
