New Hampshire week presser

New Hampshire week! Top 25 CAA showdowns are a dime a dozen this year (like most years), and this week is no exception. The #11 Spiders hop on a plane to take on the #22 Wildcats for a noon kickoff.

Below are some bullet points from today’s presser. Coach Scott brought along with him rSr. RB Tyler Kirchoff and Sr CB Justin Rogers (who was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week last week: two INT’s, one forced fumble, five tackles, one pass break up, and 52 return yards).

  • Coach Scott said that the CAA is tough conference (duh) and that New Hampshire is a good team. They’ve been to the playoffs the last six years in a row.
  • New Hampshire has “one of the thickets playbooks” and will throw a lot of plays at you. They are a multidimensional team. Coach says the Spiders will play mostly a base defense and not make the kids think a lot.
  • A couple of kids on the team have never flown on an airplane before. Luckily it is only an hour and a half flight to New Hampshire.
  • Kirchoff had a huge week last week — scoring 4 TD’s. After the UVa game Tyler was concerned about his role on the team and thought he could do more to help the team. He has emerged as the trusted 3rd down back. Coach trusts him to protect and catch the ball.
  • Just Rogers had a hard time remembering the last time the Spiders lost on the road to a FCS opponent (Villanova, 2008, 26-20).
  • Rogers has told the team that the fans in New Hampshire are going to be extremely excited and their team will be fueled by it.
