Cancellations related to That Jerk Joaquin®

He is always showing up when he is least wanted. And now we have to postpone and cancel a bunch of things. UGH.

Oh great, just great. Joaquin’s here. Who invited that guy to my party? Was it you, Lindsey? You’re always inviting him everywhere, ugh! What? You think Joaquin’s harmless? Well, I guess it’s a matter of opinion, but if a tree comes crashing through my roof, like it did that time at Heather and Mike’s, I’m blaming you.

2nd Street Festival

The 2nd Street Festival is cancelled this weekend, due to forecasts for potentially dangerous weather – possibly a hurricane – and the Governor’s declaration of a state of emergency in the Commonwealth.

Produced by Venture Richmond, the festival is in its 27th year, and celebrates the rich culture of the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood. This FREE public event is presented by Altria and Dominion.

Venture Richmond will offer a FREE concert at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, at The Hippodrome, featuring Con Funk Shun. Con Funk Shun was scheduled to headline the Saturday music offerings at the Festival. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and entry will be first come, first served.

The unveiling ceremony for the state historical marker honoring the Miller/Eggleston Hotel, scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m., is also cancelled.

Richmond VA Parks and Recreation

Due to the inclement weather, all football games for tonight and on Saturday have been cancelled. The make up game schedule for Saturday’s games will be posted shortly.

RVA Field of Dreams Fest

Charles Bradley et al. will now be at the Altria Theater on Friday, October 2nd at 6:30 PM.

Shell-Raiser’s Shindig

Rescheduled to Sunday, October 18th!

Hogtober is CANCELED! That is a bummer to a lot of people I know.

State Fair of Virginia

Due to the threat of heavy rain and possible severe weather, the State Fair of Virginia will close at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1 and will not reopen for the remainder of the 2015 season.

In light of the weather forecast for this weekend, the State Fair of Virginia and 4-H and FFA officials have POSTPONED this weekend’s youth livestock show until Friday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 11, at The Meadow Event Park.

The Youth Livestock Sale of Champions will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, with a reception beginning at 5 p.m. and the sale following at 6.
