WRIR is hosting its bi-annual Pledge Drive. Will you call in and contribute to keep independent music, news and views on the radio in Virginia? The number is 804-622-9747 or www.wrir.org.

Why contribute? Our work is good. Our volunteers are great. Here’s proof:

WRIR was listed as one of the 40 best “little radio stations” in the country(!) by Paste Magazine.
WRIR was named the “Independent Media of the Decade’” by Style Weekly Magazine.
WRIR won the City of Richmond’s Community Service Award in 2009.
My little 30 minute radio show, Wordy Birds, took third place in the category of “best locally produced radio program” by Richmond Magazine readers.

And there is more. . .

Giving to WRIR is more than just supporting public radio. We are celebrated because we educate and unite people through our programming. WRIR is a free community service that covers and gives back to all public issues… and then, of course, we celebrate life and diversity through music.

We are winning awards because WRIR cares about our listeners and what is happening here on planet earth. Your contribution will keep us going and keep us on the air. Our studios aren’t fancy, our volunteers aren’t paid and our commitment is long. Donating is a simple way to make a lasting impact on our community.
