If you haven’t heard of “Candles on the Canal” yet…well, it’s a new tradition James River Park manager Ralph White is trying to establish on the Canal Walk to celebrate the summer solstice.

“Float a wish down the canal,” said White, saying the event is open to everyone. There will be floating candles for participants to light and watch float down the canal along the Canal Walk in Shockoe Bottom.
