A James River water rescue was called in Tuesday night during the storm in downtown Richmond.

From NBC12:

In the middle of Tuesday night’s powerful storm, three people were rescued from the James River. The call for help came from an area near Tredegar Street around 7 p.m. Three people — ages 26, 13 and 8 — were stuck on a rock in the middle of the river.

A Richmond Fire spokesman says when the storm hit and the water level began to rise, the people panicked. Despite rain, hail and lightning, Richmond Fire and EMS crews were able to get a boat in the water and rescue the family. No one was hurt.
