The folks at the Chimborazo Playground Community Garden are looking for a Childrens’ Gardener:

We are looking for that one person who loves young children, a great teacher who has huge amounts of patience, and above all someone who enjoys gardening, doesn’t mind getting dirty and who understands the importance of nutritional vegetables

THE CHIMBORAZO PLAYGROUND COMMUNITY GARDEN.

The Community Garden team has very kindly reserved two vegetable plots for our local children to grow their own vegetables and to learn what gardening is all about. The children will be required to do all the work, and they will benefit enormously from the experience.

The Church Hill Association has funded the capital cost of these two plots, along with child-sized tools, with any balance going towards initial planting costs.

The Community Garden team is now looking for someone to head up the use of the two new Children’s Beds. There are people who are willing to help teach the children but they need a “Head Organizer” to make decisions, organize how they will be run, how to reach out to neighborhood children, perhaps organize transport, and to coordinate other (gardening) volunteers.

Drop a line to chimbo@tricyclegardens.org if you’re interested or to find out more.
