Museum staff are currently investigating what sounded the fire alarm and led to the museum’s evacuation.
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts was evacuated this afternoon after a fire alarm went off. The cause of the alarm appears to be an equipment failure of some sort. VMFA Chief Communications Officer, Suzanne Hall, said there is “no hazard to museum visitors or staff.”
