The city’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities will host a Veterans’ Day ceremony on Thursday, November 11, at 4PM at the World War I Memorial Carillon building in Byrd Park. The program will feature a concert on the Carillon bells by carillonneur Lon Mitchell, presentation of colors by the Huguenot High School Color Guard, vocal selections, and the presentation of a memorial wreath.

Guest Speaker Dr. Dean Decker, an Army veteran and commander of The Memorial Rifles, will present the program, “The Last Mission of World War II.” Musical accompaniment will be provided by Heywood Harrison, director of music at Zion Baptist Church and staff musician at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Rev. Cheryl Ivey Green will offer the invocation and benediction.
