In September of 2013, 57% of sampled VCU students said they went without food due to lack of money. Student faith-communities and university offices at VCU are coming together to prevent students from going hungry by opening the VCU Student Food Pantry on January 15th. The idea is simple students present their VCU ID card, take a survey and then are given food. Students can take enough for up to 3 weeks with no limit on return trips.
The Pantry is hosted by The Center @ VCU, an affiliate of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at VCU. If you’d like to donate food and/or your time, information can be found on the volunteer page.
The VCU Student Food Pantry is only available to students. If you’re not a student and need help finding a meal check out this resource list provided by Active RVA.
