Richmond police have asked the public for help in solving two armed robberies they said took place within hours of each other, one on Christmas Eve morning.
The first armed robbery happened near the Fan around 11 p.m. Monday night. A man entered the Uppy’s Convenience Store in the 2200 block of West Main Street, according to Richmond Police. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from two clerks who were working behind the counter. Two other customers were inside at the time. The suspect made off with an undetermined amount of cash. No one was hurt. The suspect is described as a black male, around 6”2’, and wore a gray sweatshirt and blue skull cap at the time of the robbery.
The second armed robbery took place around 2:30 a.m. Christmas Eve at the FasMart in the 6400 block of Hull Street, near East Belt Boulevard. A masked man went into the convenience store, displayed a silver revolver, and demanded money from the clerk. according to Richmond Police. He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. The clerk was not hurt, and no one was inside the store at the time. The suspect is described as a black male in dark clothing who wore a mask.
Anyone with information on either of these crimes is asked to call Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000. Police said they do not believe that either of these robberies are connected.
