OK, here it is. The DMV and the Friends are waiting for the metal prototype to arrive from the vendor for approval. After that, the DMV will need to order the metal sheeting, make the things, and then mail them out. According to the DMV’s time line, we’re looking at the end of January to March of 2012 to get these license plates bolted to our cars.
To recap: we collected 380 license plate applications and fees from 2009 to the end of 2010; had our license plate legislation passed by the VA General Assembly in January 2011; and submitted the applications and a large check to the DMV July 2011. The Friends will not see any financial proceeds from these plates until the 1001st one is sold.
