Alliance for the Chesapeake BayVolunteers, in regards to the Bellemeade Creek/Minefee Street trash cleanup, from Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay:

We have changed our meeting location due to construction activities for the new Oak Grove Elementary school occurring adjacent to the Bellemeade community center.  New meeting location is at the corner of Minefee and Mimosa Streets at the entrance to property owned by Richmond Parks , Recreation, and Community Facilities.  This area is a large field right next the creek and is a more central location for our work.  There is also plenty of room available for parking vehicles.

Finally, we are expecting a great turnout on participation, including community members and other volunteers from the Richmond area. We are looking forward to having a fun and safe event where we will make a substantial impact on cleaning up the creek and portions of the neighborhood.  As you might know, there are plans to use the creek as a nature learning tools for the students at the new Oak Grove Elementary school – scheduled to open in 2012.  Our work on Saturday is setting to stage so this can happen.
