Unpacking the 2010 Census: New Realities of Race, Class, and Jurisdiction, a presentation and workshop facilitated by Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities and Hope In The Cities, will be at William Fox Elementary School on Monday, May 7 from 6-8PM.

What is it?
Unpacking the 2010 Census: New Realities of Race, Class, and Jurisdiction is a project launched in March 2011 in metropolitan Richmond (VA).

It examines the dramatically changing landscape of human need in our city and what we must do together to build a just and inclusive community.

The project aims to:

* Educate people on the underlying causes of inequity. Highlights the role of history, the power to make new history through action.

* Provoke discussion about new policy options to address poverty and structural inequity in the region. The economic and political structural roots of the disparities in public education, access to transportation, healthcare, and affordable housing and their historical context.

* Empower participants to share what they have learned in these discussions with others in the community and create real change.

We want as many voices as possible in these discussions!

Conceived, researched and designed by Dr. John V. Moeser, a renowned urban planning expert, Senior Fellow at the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement, University of Richmond. He is also a member of the Hope in the Cities Council.
