Two companies based in the Far West End’s Innsbrook Corporate Center have been named among the best to work for nationwide. Snagajob, an online hourly employment job search website, was ranked number one place to work by Chicago-based “The Great Place to Work Institute.”

The company has been in the top 10 for firms of its size (50-250 employees) since 2008. The rankings are based largely on employee surveys about workplace happiness, sense of pride in work and other categories.

Architecture/engineering firm H&A Architects & Engineers was this week named the second best place to work for among mid-sized multidiscipline firms in the nation by Zweigwhite, publisher of CE News and Structural Engineer.

H&A’s President, Michael Matthews, and Human Resources Director, Patricia Davison, accepted the award on the firm’s behalf at Zweigwhite’s Best Firms to Work For Summit in San Diego, California.

“I am excited to announce that for the third year in a row our employees have named H&A one of the best firms to work for in the nation,” said Matthews. “Our second place standing for mid-sized firms demonstrates that our culture is one of integrity, quality, service and creativity.”

In both 2009 and 2010, H&A placed first in the multidiscipline category becoming the only firm to earn this distinction.

The annual Best Firms to Work For ranking recognizes firms that “inspire their teams to perform at the highest levels by creating an environment where their people feel valued, where they feel like they make a difference, and where they can clearly see their contribution to the overall mission and success of the firm.”

Governor Bob McDonnell visited Snagajob yesterday to congratulate the company on its award. The video can be seen below.
