Richmond won’t pick up trash today — except for those whose garbage wasn’t collected yesterday.

The city said yesterday that it is delaying collections by one day because of the lingering snow and ice. “We’re backed up,” said Sharon North, spokeswoman for the Department of Public Works.

Residents with alley collection are being asked to place their Supercans on the street in front of their house if possible.

The pickup schedule for the remainder of the week is:

•Tuesday collections will take place tomorrow; •Wednesday collections will take place Thursday; •There is no collection on Friday, Christmas Day; and •Thursday and Friday collections will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
