Traffic Alert: Turning Lane Changes at West Broad Street & Pump Road

The busiest intersection in Henrico County has undergone some minor changes in the hopes of making traffic flow a little more smoothly.

Minor lane changes have been made on Pump Road at West Broad Street in Short Pump.

The busiest intersection in Henrico County has undergone some minor changes in the hopes of making traffic flow a little more smoothly. A new traffic pattern at the intersection of West Broad Street and Pump/Pouncey Tract Roads has been implemented. Motorists traveling northbound on Pump Road in front of Short Pump Elementary School will notice one less right turn lane when approaching the intersection.

Previously, vehicles making a right onto West Broad Street (via two right turn only lanes) eastbound could not turn on red. Right turns can now be made anytime, but one of the right turn lanes is now a straight lane.

In addition, the two left lanes are now left turn only lanes, providing for two dedicated straight lanes in the middle of the roadway, when only one existed before.

Motorists are alerted to the changes by a lighted sign in front of Short Pump Elementary. An aerial view of the intersection with the lane changes labeled can be seen below.
