Flight Night @ Secco

Mon Jan 30 2:00 pm
Trying new things is like hitting the refresh button on our existence: it delivers us from complacency, engages our senses and forces us to question our tastes, values and, in turn, our very nature. Yet, more often than not, most of us will opt for the familiar over the unknown. Every Monday.

The first event will be hosted by the Science Museum of Virginia on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The event is in conjunction with the Science Museum’s launch of “RACE – Are We So Different?” exhibition in late January. Click II: Biannual Photography Exhibit

Fri Feb 3 7:00 pm
@ Glave Kocen
When the Richmond Arts community embraced Click in 2010, it was only natural to bring it back. This time the scope has gotten even greater. Scott Elmquist (photo editor/photographer of Style Weekly) and BJ Kocen (glave kocen gallery director) are back to curate this exhibit but new to Click’s curatorial duties is Travis Fullerton (Museum Photographer VMFA). This exhibit features over twenty photographers, five of which have received VMFA fellowships, whose work covers ground from Photo Journalism to the Fine Arts. There are some returning photographers such as Jamie Betts and Cyane Lowden but mostly it’s a brand new batch featuring folks such as Michael Lease, Jon-Phillip Sheridan, Logan Crable, and Rick Kidd. The thrust of this exhibit is to celebrate what most patrons know about the power of photography and to educate those who still remain skeptical about photography as an art form. To further bolster this massive exhibit, title cards will include artist statements and camera gear used, photo books will be on display and Scott & Travis will lead off a Q&Q on Feb. 18th called “Point and Shoot”.
