Middle School girls join forces with professional women scientists to confront challenges and find solutions to common problems faced by scientists and engineers in this overnight camp in. Sponsored by the Society of Women Engineers and DuPont. $10 per person. For every four girls, one adult chaperone is required. Pre-registration is required. Call 804.864.1400. Remembering Slavery, Resistance, and Freedom at William Byrd Community House

As Virginia and the Nation commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, the Remembering Project hosts a one-day series of programs beginning with a morning Presentation on Resistance and Community Conversation. Open House, Sept. 15 @ 6 pm. Childcare provided for infants and preschoolers; specially designed workshops available for children (grades 1-6) and teens (grades 7-12). City Council Formal Meeting

Every 2nd and 4th Mon – Responsible for deciding official Council action, which includes discussing, adopting, rejecting, and amending laws and approving the budget. Formal meetings include a time for pubic comment and are televised live on the local PBS station and are replayed in Richmond on Government Access Channel 17, beginning at Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily.
