Intercultural Festival at VCU

The 2013 Intercultural Festival at VCU takes place on Saturday, April 6, from noon until 6 p.m. at Monroe Park. Entrance to the festival and all activities are free and open to the public. The festival will include a variety of foods from various cultures, as well as cultural displays, performances and fashion shows, student art exhibits and booths with games and crafts for all ages. There will be a petting zoo and door prizes to showcase more than 30 cultural organizations at VCU.

Civil War & Emancipation Day 2013

This year’s Civil War & Emancipation Day provides free admission to all of the more than 25 participating sites and activity centers and offers an array of informative walking tours and presentations. Free shuttle service provided.

City Council Formal Meeting

Every 2nd and 4th Mon – Responsible for deciding official Council action, which includes discussing, adopting, rejecting, and amending laws and approving the budget. Formal meetings include a time for pubic comment and are televised live on the local PBS station and are replayed in Richmond on Government Access Channel 17, beginning at Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily.

Byrd House Renegade Market

Every Tuesday. Byrd House Market at William Byrd Community House is a food-focused farmers market serving the community weekly on Tuesday afternoons. We provide a place and time for 25-30 food growers and makers to come together with food shoppers who want fresh, local and sustainable produced food for their lives. 3rd Precinct MPACT Meeting

Come make art Side by Side with your little artist!

Engage workshops are available to the public the second Saturday of every month. ENGAGE: Side by Side offers a variety of two-hour workshops related to the gallery exhibition and provides fun and rewarding time for parents, grandparents, Big Brothers and Big Sisters to work with a young person, exploring new materials and creating projects together.

Cost is $10 per team each Saturday. VisArts members and Big Brothers/Big Sisters teams participate free!

A team is a child (age 5 to 15) and an adult. A team can have one or two children. Teams work together at ENGAGE: Side by Side.
