This weekend’s picks include the Autism 5K, fly fishing class, live improv comedy from West End Comedy and more!

West End Comedy Live Improv Shows

West End Comedy welcomes the summer with shows at HATTheatre. Friday, May 27th at 7:30-8:45 p.m. is the all audiences show. The show opens with a performance from the winning high school troupe from the Thursday evening show, then WE Comedy offers an improv blitz similar to Whose Line is It Anyway featuring suggestions from the audience. The Saturday evening show is for mature audiences only! Tickets ate $5 each.

Autism Society of Virginia 5K Run/Walk

The ASCV 5K Run/Walk for Autism gets underway at 8:00 a.m. at the Innsbrook Snagajob.com Pavilion. The event also includes entertainment, food and kids’ activities. Registration is $25 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Funds raised will stay in the Richmond Metro area and support autism research and support for families living with the disease.

Fly Fishing 101

The Orvis Company at Short Pump Town Center is hosting Fly Fishing classes. Learning to fly fish provides families and friends with a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, relax and learn a challenging and fun new sports skill. Each class is complimentary and open to the public. Reservations are required for attendance and there is a fifteen student maximum per class. Each Fly Fishing 101 group attendee will receive a certificate for a free Trout Unlimited membership and a free membership in the Federation of Fly Fishing.

Memorial Day Weekend Blood Drive

Virginia Blood Services will have their bloodmobile at the main entrance of Short Pump Town Center on Saturday, near Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel from 11-5. Walk-ins are welcome! All donors will be entered into a raffle to win a prize valued up to $500 like an iPad, iPod touch, movie tickets and theme park packages. VBS says one in seven people will need blood when entering the hospital this summer. Make a difference this holiday weekend by helping to save lives and donate blood this Saturday!
