Church Hill Chillers Ghost Tour

Birthplace of the American Revolution, and home to a notorious Civil War spy, Church Hill\’s colorful past has produced a cadre of restless spirits in its buildings, its graveyards, and under its streets!

Cloaked in the shadows of the quaint and historical Church Hill neighborhood, this tour includes the following spirited tales:

Poe\’s first and last love
The oldest public cemetery in Richmond

Rocketts Landing Run the the River- Challenging 10k Urban Cross-Country

Run to the River is a unique and challenging 10k race. You will tackle three hills, dash through historic neighborhoods, and race along the banks of the James River. The course goes through Fulton, across Gillies Creek Park, up Libby hill by way of a stair set and cobblestone paths, through church hill to a trail along the James River, up another grueling stair set, through Rocketts Landing, then up the steep Powhatan hill where at the summit you face another 2 kilometers of running through historic Fulton before you reach the finish line.

Shadows of Shockoe Ghost Tour

Your Ghost Host will guide you on a fascinating nighttime exploration of Shockoe Bottom, the oldest and most haunted neighborhood in Richmond, where over 400 years of history have produced an ample share of those caught between this world and the next.

Hear tales of the mysterious, tragic and downright terrifying things that have led to numerous reports of paranormal activity along the tour route including:

City Council Formal Meeting

Every 2nd and 4th Mon – Responsible for deciding official Council action, which includes discussing, adopting, rejecting, and amending laws and approving the budget. Formal meetings include a time for pubic comment and are televised live on the local PBS station and are replayed in Richmond on Government Access Channel 17, beginning at Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily.

Frequency
Typically the second and fourth Monday of each month; 6:00-8:30 p.m. (With the exception of August, when no Formal meetings are held, and holidays)

Come try out the art of photography with Elli Morris, a local pro photographer. You’ll get to test out various types of cameras, including making one of your own. You’ll learn how to develop film and make sun contact prints of your work.

From Church Hill with Love: A Benefit for Mary Ann

Bob and Mary Ann Buffington have been cornerstones of Richmond\’s Church Hill neighborhood offering coffee, conversation and a sense of community through Buzzy\’s Coffee Shop and most recently Buff\’s Corner. Now it\’s our turn to give back to the Buffington\’s. On Friday, October 28th from 5 ot 9:30 pm Saint John Episcopal\’s Church is sponsoring a community event of barbeque, beer and blue grass with proceeds going to helps with Mary Ann\’s medical expenses as she fights ovarian cancer.
