One of the joys of being a parent with young children is that “sleeping in” means 7 AM. So when looking for breakfast out options in Carytown, I often feel limited. Can Can is usually an early opener, except on Sundays. They hold of until 9 AM. NY Deli opens at 9 on the weekends. Who knows when Galaxy Diner actually opens?

Fortunately, I was able to convince my young man child that Weezies is where we needed to go, and it really did not disappoint. The menu was standard fare for breakfast- biscuits and gravy, pancakes, french toast. We decided to go for the old standby- 2 eggs and sausage. With the $7+ price tag, I was wondering what kind of value was I getting. Then I actually saw what I ordered. 2 eggs and sausage really meant 2 eggs, 2 large patty sausages, 2 pieces of toast, a fruit bowl and home fried potatoes. It was more than enough food.

The eggs were nice and yellow and scrambled well. The sausages were of the precooked variety, which in most cases is a good thing. These sausage were 2.5-3 inches in diameter and were crunchy on the exterior and tasty and wonderful on the interior. The toast was un-buttered, but at least they had real butter at the table. The fruit bowl was a combo or strawberries, pineapple, cantaloupe and honey dew. The home fries were perfect. Instead of frying up some frozen, bland potatoes, Weezies chopped up and re-branded their french fries. They seemed to have an extra kick of spice to them as well as an extra crunch to the exterior. They were almost worth the price of admission alone.

I feel like this experience helped me warrant a return visit. Hopefully, you all will give them a visit soon.
