My family’s visit to Belle Isle on Memorial Day on the “To the River and Back” bus was fun, though we kept it short on purpose. While I was very surprised by the action on Tredegar Beach, the party on Belle Isle was expected.

Richmonders flocked to the James River over the Memorial Day weekend to escape the heat and cool off in the James River.
The rope swing and sandy beaches at Tredegar Beach next to Brown’s Island saw a lot of action over the weekend. As did the flat rocks at Belle Isle, perfect for sunbathing and sliding into the river.
