Six beautiful homes will be on the tour, and six local restaurants & chefs will shine. Cooper Vineyards will provide a sampling of wine at each stop!
First up is the home of John and Chen Mahoney at 1630 W. Grace, built in 1904. Josie Flemotomos from Gus’s Bar & Grill (2701 W. Broad St.) will be on tap to serve up a sampler platter from their elaborate menu, which is far from traditional sports bar food. Located on the edge of the Fan, Gus’s is widely known as a “fun place to hang out,” and Josie prides herself on combining outstanding food with cold beer and friendly service.
Joe and Christine Baum are excited to show visitors a new courtyard garden complete with a trickling, lighted waterfall behind their lovely home at 1812 W. Grace. Melissa Barlow from The Empress will be sampling a treat from their menu of organic, local, completely made-from-scratch items including freshly baked sourdough paninis, sweet or savory crepes, and artful hand-crafted desserts.
Mike and Jessica Dyer at 1819 W. Grace have a completely renovated and gorgeously decorated three-story home, where Xavier Beverly from The Camel (1621 W. Broad St.) will hand out chef Scott Miller’s famous sausage stars, as well as a signature sandwich. A beloved neighborhood venue, The Camel has live music every night of the week, rotating monthly art on the walls, and 28 draught beers.
Bob and Leslie Lytle at 2203 W. Grace have a large and gorgeously updated kitchen, perfect for Chef Augusto “Auggie” Lopez from The Republic (2053 West Broad) to take over. Visitors will enjoy cherry tomatoes filled with duck confit and boursin cheese, as well as a surprise dish. The Republic serves “international comfort food,” including small plates, soups, sandwiches, and entrees with international flare. They have a variety of bands and DJs throughout the week, and they never charge a cover.
Chef Chad Stambaugh from Emilio’s Tapas Bar will round out the 2200 block at Sharon Glover’s impressive home at 2239 W. Grace. Emilio’s menu features 45 different tapas, Valencian paellas, and authentic recipes prepared with imported ingredients. Customers come to Emilios to enjoy an evening of Spanish culture, music, and colorful art. The signature dish for tour guests is a secret, but don’t be surprised to see some paella!
Last but definitely not least is the warm and beautiful home of Kevin and Sarah Gross, boasting a grand wraparound porch and a bright and inviting new kitchen. Manny from the Fan’s favorite Cuban bodega, Kuba Kuba, will be serving from their well-known menu of authentic Cuban appertivos, emparidados, and entradas!
