I’ve written plenty of how much I love the Atlantic Coast Line Bridge and Main Area West, but I don’t often take in the view from Riverside Drive — I tend to go down to the river banks. I recently saw something on the bridge that caught my eye.

The bridge has its name painted on the south end of the bridge as Riverside Drive passes under. I’ve noticed it before but didn’t think much of it.

The only informational signage for the bridge is a couple of blocks east at Evelyn Byrd Drive. The bridge isn’t part of the James River Park System, but it certainly is a magnificent and scenic symbol for the James.

Would it look better if that were repainted? So many people forget the name of the bridge. Should it be left alone? Who cares?
