What happens when a mad scientist traps two movie goers in a theater and forces them to watch a really bad movie? In the tradition of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Random Acts, Short Pump’s premier improv comedy troupe, presents Driller Killer. The performances will be held at the Hat Theatre on Patterson Avenue at Lauderdale Drive.

The plot of the show is as witty as the actors themselves. Tortured and penniless artist Reno and his girlfriends Carol and Pamela hang out at their New York loft, enduring such problems as the phone bill, the rent and a rock band that’s always practicing downstairs. When it all becomes too much, Reno grabs his drill and runs through the city on all-night rampages with witty commentary and inane remarks.

This show is intended for mature audiences.

The All audiences Mainstage Show features Random Acts with their short-form improv blitz similar to what you find on the show “Who’s Line is it Anyway” featuring suggestions taken from the audience.

The shows will be on Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st. The Mainstage Show begins at 7:30 PM. Driller Killer will begin at 9:00 PM. The cost is $7 for each show or $10 for both. There will be candy for the kids, and anyone in costume will be admitted at half price. There will be a Costume Contest during both shows.
