Henrico County Public Schools annually recognizes an Instructional Leader of the Year who demonstrates notable achievement in instructional leadership. This year, a Short Pump principal made the list.

Dr. Regina Schwab, Principal of Shady Grove Elementary School, was selected for the honor.

The winners were selected based on nominations from colleagues in the areas of service and people skills, performance results, supervision and support, management skills and public engagement. A committee of instructional leaders reviewed the nominations and selected the winners.

“I was overwhelmed with gratitude to our staff for investing so much effort in nominating me last spring during what is arguably one of the busiest periods of the school year,” says Regina Schwab. “Their generosity is just one of the many examples of the ‘willingness to go the extra mile’ that characterizes Shady Grove and so many other schools in Henrico County. It is truly an honor every day to be part of this effort.”

According to her peers at Shady Grove, “Dr. Schwab is a phenomenal role model for both the staff and students. She sets very high standards for herself as an administrator, and therefore motivates her faculty and students to reach their highest potential.”
