Regarding the closing of Freedom House

(Richmond, Virginia U.S.A.) – “I am aware of the Freedom House Board’s decision to close their doors. Freedom House has been a great partner with the City and undertook an incredible work load, serving over 48,000 breakfasts and dinners and providing transitional housing services to 38 adults.

We cannot let these services disappear. Therefore, I have called an emergency meeting with the Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Social Services and Melba Gibbs, Former Executive Director of Freedom House, to determine what actions we can take to ensure the safety of this population. I will also be reaching out to the current leadership at Freedom House for their recommendations as well.”
