Help Support Educational & Art Programs for Kids

Calling all Greater Fulton walkers, runners and kids! Help support local education and arts programs for kids by registering for the Rocketts Landing Run to the River, a charity run to support the Neighborhood Resource Center. The event includes:

  • 5K Walk – fun and easy-paced stroll through our neighborhood
  • 10K Hill Run – for runners – a great work out for the Richmond Marathon
  • 1K Fun Run – for kids and the young at heart!
  • Finish Line Party & Health Fair – free massages, delicious food & coffee, live music & tours

About the NRC

The Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) offers kids a safe place to go, learn and grow. We provide after-school programs such as individual tutoring, arts, music and nutrition classes; a sliding-scale Montessori preschool; and resources for adults, including a job search help, a computer lab, Tai Chi, yoga and much more. All proceeds from the race support the NRC, help keep our lights on and the programs running. The NRC is a grassroots, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located at 1519 Williamsburg Road.

How You Can Help!

  • Register for the walk, run or kids’ run. Register now at www.runtotheriver.org.
  • Volunteer! Help direct runners along the course. The course winds through Montrose Heights, Fulton, Fulton Bottom, Church Hill, Rocketts Landing and Fulton Hill. Contact Penny Ferris at penny@nrccafe.org or call 864-5797.
  • Party! Cheer on runners along the course, especially on Salem Street, where we’ll host the 1K Fun Run for kids.
  • Sponsor! Sponsor a “Samaritan with sneakers”—that’s a runner who raises funds for the NRC folks by asking friends and family to sponsor his or her run or walk. Or, you can make a direct donation to the NRC at www.nrccafe.org/donate.
