If you were thinking about wearing sombreros and shooting your pistolas up in the air to celebrate the new year, I would suggest against it.

The Richmond Police have sent out a press release saying that they will have full staff patrolling the city on Thursday Night/ Friday Morning looking for drunk drivers and disruptions, including discharged firearms.

The majority of calls for New Year’s involve people firing guns in the air, especially at the midnight hour,” Horn said. “For safety’s sake, we want to remind people that reckless handling of firearms endangers everyone. Bottom line: It is illegal to fire a weapon in the city limits.

So if you must wear a sombrero than use a cap gun because real ones will be frowned upon by the men and women in blue.
