The City of Richmond Office of Emergency Management in partnership with Richmond Animal Care and Control, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities and the Salvation Army is pleased to present the American Red Cross Pet First Aid Course at 4 locations across the city, including a session at Chimborazo Park on August 17 from 6-10PM.


Designed to supplement personnel assigned to work in the pet care section of an emergency shelter, this 4-hour course will provide the knowledge and skills to provide immediate, temporary care to injured or sick animals. Topics include breathing emergencies including choking, cardiac arrest and CPR, life threatening bleeding, sudden illness including poisoning, seizures, and heat emergencies and how to approach and move an injured animal.

A Pet First Aid book is included. Course is limited to 10 participants per session. Funding from the Central Virginia UASI enables the course to be offered at no cost to participants.
