RTD has the story of Marty Jewell being interviewed about potential uses of UR Stadium… that will not include Minor League Baseball. Currently, only football and soccer are being considered.
The structure of UR Stadium would be horrible for baseball. The fact that it was even being considered is scary. Would the West part of the stadium be demolished, and the Eastern side become the third base line, creating a one-sided stadium? Or, would gobs of money be spent to build new stands?
The stadium will be re-named (back to) “City Stadium” after University of Richmond moves out. Now, if they can only bring back the Tobacco Bowl.
