After trees and two of the few remaining old homes in the area were removed at the corner of West Broad Street and Old Sadler Road next to CarMax several months ago, many readers wrote in asking us what was being built. Plans to build a Wawa had been in the works for several years, and those plans are now a reality. Steel is now rising from the ground to construct the building.

The Short Pump area will have its second Wawa convenience store come late spring or summer. The first, built several years ago further west on Broad Street near the Route 288 interchange, has done well with steady traffic from the heavily traveled stretch of roadway.

The land the store is being built on was one of the last undeveloped parcels between Short Pump and Innsbrook and was for sale for several years.
