A new St. Patrick’s celebration is coming to the Far West End. On Saturday, March 12th, St. Patty’s Palooza is coming to the Innsbrook Shoppes at the corner of West Broad Street and Cox Road. The new annual event promises entertainment, contests, giveaways, and a “Shaving of the Heads” to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises money for childhood cancer research.

Organizers say attendees can enjoy a petting zoo, silent auction, learn some new moves with free dance lessons, find unique special items in a craft fair, enjoy specials at the shops and hang with special guests Nutzy the Flying Squirrel, Risky the Richmond Raider and the Raiders Cheerleaders, and former Virginia Tech quarterback Bryan Randall.

The event honors Wilson Braun, a Richmonder fighting neuroblastoma.

“This is the first year for this event, so it’ll be great to see this become Richmond’s premiere St. Patty’s Day celebration,” said Fisher of local radio station Hot 100.9, who helped put the event together along with Cox Radio Richmond sister stations 103.7 The River, K95 and 96-5 KLR.

“We’ll have something for everyone which is highlighted by the fact that all four of our stations are involved. The best part of the day, though, is that it raises money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.”

St. Patty’s Palooza gets underway at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12th.
