Mexican restaurant Plaza Azteca opened its doors this week in the Towne Center West development near Short Pump Town Center. The Hampton Roads-based chain has more than 15 locations either open or in the works. Prior Richmond locations to open include Westchester Commons in Midlothian and Broad and Glenside in the Near West End.

The restaurant, known among other things for their table-side homemade guacamole preparation, offers gourmet Mexican cuisine in an upscale atmosphere. The Short Pump Plaza Azteca features an outdoor seating area alongside an expansive indoor dining room and is adjacent to Blue Ridge Mountain Sports, in front of the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa.

Locally-owned children’s clothing and accessory boutique Bumble & Co. has closed its doors as of Thursday. The retailer, who was located in the Shoppes at Westgate, moved to the new space on Lauderdale from Short Pump Town Center last year, citing requests from customers, many of which had small children with them when shopping, to relocate to a shopping center more accessible than the mall. The store has struggled to stay afloat ever since.
