A new martial arts and fitness center has opened its doors in Short Pump. Master Cho’s Martial Arts & Fitness opened its second Richmond location last week in the Short Pump Plaza shopping center, near Bowl America and SkateNation Plus.

The large, free-standing studio facing Pouncey Tract Road features a large room with vaulted ceilings for martial arts use, as well as a number of smaller classrooms and a Zen Garden beneath a gigantic landmark oak known as the “Alligator Tree” (named for the symmetrical oak’s exposed roots, which appear to some like an alligator’s head). The preservation of the tree was a hot topic of area residents during the studio’s construction.

Master Cho’s offers a variety of classes and programs for children and adults and is taking appointments for new clients now.
