Mary Lou Decossaux was born in Miami, reared in New Jersey and studied in France. But she left her most indelible mark in her beloved Fulton Hill, where she transformed an abandoned Williamsburg Road post office into a community hub. […] Miss Decossaux — who won awards for her community organizing and was appointed last March to Mayor Dwight C. Jones’ commission on poverty — died at her home Tuesday after a long illness. She was 54.

The Neighborhood Resource Center will host a tribute to Miss Decossaux’s life on Saturday, January 7 from 1-3PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Neighborhood Resource Center and sent to 1519 Williamsburg Road, Richmond, VA 23231.
