U.S. Bicycle Route 1 is a cross-country bicycle route that will run the length of the east coast when completed. Right now there are official stretches already in place from Maine to North Carolina. The route north from Richmond to Ashland is a popular ride.
The city last year added 2 designated bicycle routes of their own, beginning at #2 so as to not cause confusion with U.S. Route 1.
