It’s Hip to Be Round, a locally owned and operated maternity store in West Broad Village offering designer maternity apparel, gifts and more is helping the Virginia League for Planned Parenthood (VLPP) and Complete Care Center for Women (CCCW) with their Centering Pregnancy Pilot Program.
VLPP and CCCW are aiming to increase healthier birth outcomes for mothers and their babies.
Women in Centering Pregnancy groups are able to receive two hours of prenatal care with a doctor from Complete Care Center for Women and a social worker from Virginia League for Planned Parenthood. Throughout the ten sessions the women will learn about healthy eating, depression, breastfeeding, and baby care as well as receive support and encouragement from community organizations and other group members.
As a comprehensive health care provider, Virginia League for Planned Parenthood is dedicated to improving healthy birth outcomes for women and their babies. “We want healthy women and children, which lead to healthy communities,” said Abby Dini, Virginia League for Planned Parenthood’s Education Program Director.
The supplies gathered through the drive will be used to support the Centering Pregnancy Pilot program participants. Donations can be dropped off at either It’s Hip to Be Round location in Carytown or Short Pump Friday November 27th through Sunday November 29th. Each donation will also receive a 1% discount per item donated toward purchases.
Items needed are gently-used or new baby clothing birth through 24 months, baby bottles, receiving blankets and swaddling blankets, burp cloths, baby socks/booties, baby hats, onesies, baby bath towels, washcloths, baby baths, baby soaps/lotions/shampoos, baby nail clippers, baby brush/comb, unused pacifiers, breast pumps, bottle warmers, digital thermometers, baby nailclippers, diapers, and other essential baby needs.
