Personal Care Preferred Group (PCPG) is holding a food drive at all seven of its locations through December 18. The donated food will be evenly distributed among the Tri-City and southern Virginia areas that PCPG serves, including the counties of Isle of Wight, Prince George, Sussex, Southampton, Surry, Brunswick, Greensville, Chesterfield and Dinwiddie, as well as the cities of Emporia, Petersburg, Hopewell and Franklin. Community members and employees are asked to donate non-perishable, non-breakable food items used in healthy meals, including canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats and fish, and pasta.

Due to current economic conditions, demand at local food banks has been far exceeding the supply, and more community donations are needed.

“Last year our first company-wide food drive netted more than 1,000 food items that were donated to the social services departments that serve the company’s seven locations,” said John Thurman, owner of the home care company. “It’s our hope that this year, with more people in need than before, that with greater employee and community participation, we can exceed that figure and help even more families have something to eat this Christmas season.”

The Personal Care Preferred Group consists of three individual companies, Personal Touch Home Care, Moore Home Care and Southern Touch Health Care. The group has offices in Stony Creek, Colonial Heights, Waverly, Emporia, Petersburg, Lawrenceville and Franklin. Donations can be made at any of their locations during normal business hours.
