The House of Marinara has a review of favorite Fan greasy spoon City Diner (on Broad Street at Strawberry). It’s cash or local check only, but it’s a great spot for a quick and simple breakfast.
The people are what make it comfortable. When we visit, we recognize half the people in the restaurant as regulars. Our waitress, Suzie, already knows to make the chocolate milk for the little one. As she brings it over to the table, I often will discuss with her the finer points of NASCAR. The other waitress Yvonne is helping me culture the little one with the Irish vocabulary. Mike, the owner for almost 3 years, gives everyone a warm hello. Don’t be surprised to see Richmond celebrities like former NBA star Johnny Newman or Governor Tim Kaine come by for a quick bite to eat.
