Take an innertube float from the Z-Dam through the Pony Pasture Rapids and down to The Wetlands on Saturday afternoon. It might be the best way to beat the 100-degree heat!

It begins in the slow, mostly flat water from Riverside Meadow, floating alongside Williams Island.  There will be frequent views of ospreys, geese and occasional eagles. You’ll have to navigate the masses that will be gathered at Pony Pasture.

Steep slope to access river.  Tubes, lifejackets and guides provided.  Must be able to swim, be above age 12, and wear sneakers.  Reservations required.  Park at entrance to The Wetlands on Landria Drive before 2 p.m. Saturday, but you must make reservations by calling 646-8911. The float should be over by 5 p.m. and there is a $5 fee.  Van takes participants to the put-in.
