Jonathan Vassar returns to Live at Ipanema this Sunday evening:
I’ve been practicing in front of my 4 month year old son, Casimir. He either smiles, cries, sleeps, or poops– which I guess prepares me for any extreme reaction. Last night I got the chance to play the set on the front porch for Antonia while she gardened just before it got dark. I had a glass of iced coffee. Heaven.
I last played the series back in 2009, and it marked the beginning of the Ophelia Project which resulted in friendships and music that I hold very dear. This time my goal is simply to document unrecorded songs that I’ve recently finished, and different versions of a few old favorites.
Live at Ipanema is a free performance series at Ipanema Cafe. The shows are recorded & photographed, and then shared online. The band gets a high-quality recording and professional photography, and everyone else gets a great evening of music.
