As of 6 a.m. Thursday, the James River was measured at the Westham Gauge to be at 10.91 feet, more than a foot below the 12 foot flood stage.
Of course, after lingering below 4 feet for the past couple of months, this is a big gift for those that paddle. Remember that lifejackets are required on the river when the levels are above 5 feet and permits are required above 9 feet. Be safe!
