After much talk and speculation, it’s official. Indianapolis-based electronics chain hhgregg is coming to the Richmond market. The first location in the metro area? Short Pump Town Center. A small banner has been hoisted on the front of the former Short Pump Circuit City location announcing the coming store.

Dumpsters and construction trucks can be seen outside the building, which still adorns the big red and white Circuit City logo. An opening date for hhgregg has not yet been announced.

The Short Pump store will be the first in Virginia for the retailer, which operates 108 stores in nine states. The company employs around 3,100 people and reported revenues of $1.1 billion in 2007.
